    MEMORY PLACES

    National Historic Site of Canada:

    Provincial Road 55 62580 Vimy. It extends over 107 hectares, largely reforested. Part of the underground and trenches have been preserved. From May 1st to October 31st: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. From November 1st to April 30th: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Free visit.

    The ring of memory, Notre-Dame-de-Lorette

    Notre Dame de Lorette 62153 Ablain-Saint-Nazaire This place brings in a posthumous brotherhood nearly 580,000 fighters from around the world fell on the battlefields of the First World War. Free tour.

The cemetery, which is arranged around the chapel of Our Lady of Loreto and the lantern tower is the largest military Niederzwehren Cemetery of France; it has about 43,000 soldiers who fell in the battles of Artois. Opening hours: October to March: 8:00am to 4:30am. From The 15th of April to May: 9:00am to 5:30pm. From June to August: 9:00am to 6h30pm September: 9:00am to 5:30pm

    THE MINES

    Historical mining center, 

    Street Erchin 59287 Lewarde The Mining History Center, the Museum of the largest mine in France, offers the public to delve into the mine universe through seven major thematic exhibitions relating the daily minor and his family and the history of coal mining. From the 15th  of November to the 28th of February: From Monday to Saturday: from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. On Sundays, public and school holidays: From 10:00am to 5:00pm  From March to the 14th of November: daily: 9 am to 5:30 pm. The Museum closes at 7:30 pm. Some discounted tickets are on sale at the Tourist Office of Lens-Lievin: 9,60 € for adults (€ 11.50 on site) € 5.70 for children from 5 to 18 years old(5.90 € on site).

    School Museum and mine

    20/24 rue de Montceau les Mines 62440 Harnes. A unique classroom equipment and educational material together, recalling the teaching back in time. Later the mine galleries and the halls with original scenes were reconstructed. Open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and by appointment exceptionally. Free admission.
