Great War history Center

Opened on 9 June 2015, Lens’ 14 – 18 is a free exhibition centre for those events and battles of the First World War which took place in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of France.

Vimy Memorial

The Canadian Memorial Park

Situated on land granted by France to the Canadian people, the memorial towers over the scene of Canada’s most recognizable First World War engagement, the Battle of Vimy Ridge, fought from 9 to 12 April 1917.

Notre Dame de Laurette

Ring of Remembrance

Inaugurated on 11 November 2014 and designed by the architect Philippe Prost, this elliptical memorial was inspired by the circles children make in their games and designed as an open book in homage to the soldiers who fell in our region.
In the remembrance room of Lens’ 14-18 museum, you can use tablets to consult databases of the nearly 580,000 soldiers, of all nationalities, who fell in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region.
